1. Information We Collect

a. Account Information
When you sign in with Google Sign-In, we receive your name and email address from Google. This information is used only to authenticate you and to link your subscription or settings to your account. We do not access your contacts, Drive, calendar, or any other Google data.

b. Launch Notification Sign-ups
If you ask to be notified about the iOS or macOS launch on our website, we collect the email address you submit and any related submission metadata needed to manage that request.

c. Voice Recordings and Transcription Data
When you dictate text, short audio snippets are transmitted securely to our servers to perform speech-to-text transcription. Audio is processed ephemerally (in memory only) and is not stored or retained after transcription is completed. The resulting text is temporarily cached on your device and never shared with third parties.

d. Usage and Diagnostics Data
We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous information such as device type, language, session duration, and feature usage. We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash logs and performance data to improve stability. This data is aggregated and does not include personally identifiable information.

e. Subscription and Purchase Information
Payments and subscriptions are handled entirely by Google Play Billing. Google Play processes your payment details; we never receive your full card information. We store only the purchase token and subscription status needed to verify your entitlement.

f. Automatically Collected Technical Data
Your device may provide non-identifying data such as IP address, Android version, and device model for security and debugging.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected data only to: provide, maintain, and improve the App's functionality; authenticate accounts and manage subscriptions; send requested iOS and macOS launch updates; diagnose crashes and performance issues; communicate essential service updates; and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers.

3. Data Security

All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Although no electronic transmission is 100% secure, we maintain commercially reasonable safeguards to protect your information.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

Voice recordings are processed ephemerally and not stored. Account and subscription data are retained only while your account is active. Launch notification sign-up data is retained only for as long as needed to manage the requested iOS and macOS launch updates, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by tapping the logout button in app, followed by "Delete Account", or by emailing hello@utterai.app. Some data (e.g., billing records) may be retained as required by law.

5. Children's Privacy

utter is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

6. International Transfers

Your data may be processed on servers located in the UK, EU, or other regions where our providers (such as Google Cloud and Firebase) operate, always under adequate security protections.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., UK GDPR / EU GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data; withdraw consent at any time; and lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority. Contact us to exercise these rights.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any changes will be posted here with an updated "Last updated" date. Material changes will be announced within the App or by email.
